THE Embassy

The diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia were established in the year 1975. The brotherly relations between the two countries were further consolidated with the exchange of Diplomatic Missions in both countries. The Bangladesh Embassy was inaugurated/Opened on 8 January 1976 in a rented building in Jeddah, the then capital of KSA. In 1st August 1985, the Embassy was shifted to Riyadh while Jeddah Chancery began functioning as the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Jeddah from 4 August 1985. Since then, the Embassy is housed in rented building in House No. 50 Al Warud Quarters, Sulaimania, Riyadh. Following Ambassadors served the Mission as its head till date:

It may be noted that late Ambassador Rezaul Karim, the then C.D.A. was the first diplomatic envoy to lay down the foundation of Bangladesh Embassy in Jeddah and the Chancery was shifted from Jeddah to Riyadh under the supervision of Ambassador Mohammed Mohsin.

AUTOMATION OF THE CONSULAR SERVICES

Consular Services of the Embassy has been automated and  following services are provided by the newly introduced system:

 

1. Applicants can queue up without filling up forms for new Passport/renewal of Passport.

2. Computer printed receipt and filled in forms are provided.

3. Date and delivery time will be mentioned in the receipt.

 

The following facilities are available in the automated system:

1. Daily collection with number and type of services rendered available readily..

2. Applicants detail with photograph is kept in the system.

3. Statement of every service provided can be recorded.

4. Daily statement can be kept in a printed form.

FREE FRIDAY CLINIC

In association with the BMA (Bangladesh Medical Association) a Free Friday Clinic is now in operation at the Embassy premises to serve the community :

 The following services are provided in the Free Friday Clinic:

 1. 2(Two) Doctors remain on duty for treatment. A third doctor gives the support service which could be taken over by a paramedic once available.

2. Only Male Patients are treated and given medical advice.

3. Time of Service is normally 5 to 9 pm. During winter clinic runs from 4 to 8 pm.

4. At this stage only prescriptions are given, no Injection, no I.V.fluid provided by the Clinic.

5.  According to the availability sometimes free medicines are given to the poor patients. These medicines are donated by the Bangladeshi philanthropists and sanctions from the Welfare Fund.
