Mr. M. Delwar Hossain, a career diplomat, has begun his assignment as Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 25 December 2024.
Ambassador Hossain has joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1998. He has previously served in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka and a number of Bangladesh missions abroad.
Just prior to the current appointment, he served as Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Korea for over 3 years. He also worked as Minister & Deputy Head of Mission in Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing from 2014 to 2017; as Counsellor in Bangladesh Embassy in Thimphu from 2012 to 2014; as First Secretary and Counsellor in Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli from 2004 to 2008; and Third & Second Secretary in Bangladesh Embassy in Paris from 2001 to 2004.
In the Ministry, he served at various levels in a number of wings including West Asia, Multilateral Economic Affairs, Administration, Public Diplomacy, South East Asia, and Myanmar.
Ambassador Delwar Hossain has graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology. Subsequently, he obtained an MBA degree from the Institute of Business Administration of the University of Dhaka. He got a diploma in International Relations from the International Institute of Public Administration in Paris. He has also attended a number of professional courses in home and aboard.
Ambassador Hossain is married and blessed with two sons. He has good command in English and French language.
